i stepped out of the shower this morning to see brady holding back the hair of my four hear old daughter while she leaned over the toilet. the smell hit me and i immediately felt like i needed to shower again. i grabbed a pony tail and a clip knowing there would be a round 2, 3 and 4 only praying it would end there. brooklyn has a history of "choking".
i knew she needed gatorade and jello, maybe some crackers, but the dutch licensees are in town. i had reports that were due monday - it is now wednesday, and a mountain of email was waiting for me at the office . . . so i told brady he would have to go to the store. i grabbed my stuff, hit the garage door opener and stepped out into the garage to find that the light to the car had been left on all night.
awesome.
luckily i drive the van. i called brady once i backed out of the driveway to let him know that he would need to charge the battery to the car before going to the store. after i hung up the phone, i started thinking about him charging a battery and dragging sick little brooklyn out into the cold with a puke dish in tow just to go get gatorade and crackers. and why? just so i could get to work for the dutch licensees, my reports and email.
so i passed up my turn, went straight to the store, texted mike, and was late for work. that was a tough thing for me to do. because i always want to be everything to everyone, but today i didn't care if i was the perfect employee. because i know i was where i needed to be first.

Thanks for saving us. The battle continues. I love you
Poor Brooklyn! I hope she feels better soon! You definitely did the right thing! Family first! And you are such a SUPER employee I know Mike understood! Brady, you are a rockstar dad! Love you all!
You're a good mom, wife, employee (friend, teacher...the list goes on...)
You were right to keep on driving, we're always in such a hurry to get where we're going that most people don't stop to think about where they SHOULD be.
What can I do?
thanks sheryl, you gave me exactly what i needed-reassurance that i did the right thing today to keep on driving. it is hard to be everywhere at once. thanks friend!
all of that with a late night activity days last night, and with probably no chance in days to sit and talk with that man you married, or cuddle with those babies you pushed out of you, and a list full of tv to catch up on per my request (parenthood! survivor tonight!), and a whole list of things to catch me up on....
SIGH.
Here is to hoping one day, and one day soon life will slow down and let you take a breath.
And until then? Well, here's to hoping your lungs are as powerful as can be!
love u
