when brady leaves town . . .

when my fulltime, mr. mom leaves town, it's not a pretty sight. while i'd like to say i can keep it all together, truth be told, i noticed a few things while he was gone this time around. like how the brand new bunch of bananas that i bought for brooksy went bad because he wasn't there to cut one up for her breakfast every morning. see exhibit a.

or how he wasn't around to bring in the mail daily. i haven't touched the mailbox since i realized an 8 legged freak took up residence near the rock on my mailbox. day 3 i sent burke out to collect. all i had to tell her was that she could open all the junk mail, she was thrilled. apparently the mailman had to cram for a few days, see exhibit b.

or how he wasn't around to tell braden that he couldn't start a petrified collection of dog poop. (it's braden's job to shovel poop this month) . you think i am kidding? my kids collect things. like empty candy wrappers, otherwise known as trash, feathers, otherwise known as disease infested bird parts, rocks, otherwise known as broken pieces of road, rubber, otherwise known as old chewed up gum. i'm serious. it's gross. see for yourself in exhibit c.

or how he wasn't around to cut the one thing that i can manage to grow and keep green. ok, so the grass is on a timer. and the sun comes up and goes down automatically. but still. i am taking full credit on this one. after all, it is my grass. in my yard. and my money paid for it so there. and it's green and alive and thriving. see exhibit d.

or how he wasn't around to insist that surely mom wouldn't need the wheel of a dishwasher or the head of a sprinkler if she decided to sit down and play the piano tonight. sigh. i didn't even ask questions. i mean, why ask. what explanation could there possibly be? i just moved them to the kitchen and baylor put them away when he cleared the counters. see evidence in exhibit e.

or how he wasn't around to tell burke that not only could she not ride her scooter in the house but she couldn't ride her scooter in the house on carpet. oh wait, not only could burke not ride her scooter in the house on carpet but she couldn't ride her scooter in the house on carpet upstairs in her bedroom. oh and after she's done riding her scooter it's probably not a good idea to be using GLUE ON THE CARPET. after all, we have a craft room for that, j.u.s.t. s.a.y.i.n. for a closer look, see exhibit f. for freak out.

exhibit f

or how he wasn't around to see that my wardrobe was shrinking by the day. this was the view of the right side of my closet on wednesday which holds the shirts i have been wearing lately. sad huh? i ended up wearing something more dressy than usual (which totally sucked.) i have other clothes, i just have a habit of wearing what's comfortable. wearing it to death. and then retiring it. ain't nothing to retire here . . . it's all dirty. see exhibit g.

exhibit g

but we survived. and he is home. soon to be eating banana bread and doing laundry while braden scoops poop and i sort mail.

Nothing like the absence of a loved one to make us appreciate them even more. Thank goodness for great husbands! He's a keeper!
