when mel and i met 12 years ago, i knew we would be best friends. the similarities were creepy, but our kids? our boys were both one and who doesn't get along then? but they are now 12 and can be found gaming, killing the battery on the house phone or texting. we were pregnant with our girls together. they were only weeks apart. they bonded before birth while we shopped, made bows and bracelets and puked. they too can be found on pinterest, club penguin, face time, texting song lyrics, or constantly planning their next outfit or sleepover.
meet porter. i didn't birth him, but when he is with me, it is like he is mine. braden had a child development class a couple of weeks ago and he was allowed to bring a child of his choosing under 3. it was a no brainer for him. porter it was.
brooklyn was too old, but came with me to drop porter off. after i picked him up, we asked him what his favorite part was. SNACK TIME! brooklyn happened to be chomping on an apple and on the way out, he asked her for a bite. and they shared back and forth. and i smiled.
it is like we are family, not friends.

My boy loves his food. I have no idea where he gets it.
