last night as i was wishing away the nausea that i had prayed for just to shed a few pounds we watched jon & kate plus 8. i looked over at burke and she had tears in her eyes.
me: what's the matter burke?
burke: i'm sad.
me: what's making you sad?
burke: this show.
me: what about this show?
burke: their mom took them to the farm and let them pick out whatever they wanted, then they got to go to the park, then she let them help cook dinner and have a game night.
me: speechless
what? i mean really? truth be known . . . i love the chic. i think she is real. i love real. many times i have thought, i am just like her. like when i find myself wrestling my toddler over a pack of mints in the check out stand, desparately trying to convince them that white candy is hot -not vanilla sweet. meanwhile the old man with bad breath is all up in my comfort bubble as if standing there will magically speed the process of checking out, i am always sure to flash some pearly whites at his white haired wife as she is mumbling something about my circus (thinking to myself take a picture it lasts longer) as i try to lift a case of bottled water out of my cart without farting . . . (breathe) in that moment, i know that my mommy face looks the same as hers even though there is no paprazzi to catch it. note to self: i am just like her. reality check, according to burke, i am not.
so, tonight we are making homemade pizzas. we didn't go to the amish farm to get the tomatoes for the sauce like kate and i didn't make the dough from scratch. we also didn't have time for the park at least not today. . . but i did get them all their very own crust, with their favorite toppings, so they can make their very own cheesy goodness. and after all that, we will play a little snow white, whistle while you work to clean up the dishes.
i hope resisting the urge to stop for little caesars 5 buck pizza after a full days work and letting them in on the fun is enough to earn me a little gosselin status.

I love Kate, too, but remember how she has a babysitter there 24-7 to help her and we work full-time in the real world! Your little Burke has such a tender heart! your such an amazing mom!
My house was completely silent until I read this post. I laughed so loud, I woke up Lexi. But it was worth it.

We all do something great at sometime during motherhood. TV just happened to capture one of those moments with Kate. YOU are a great mother, too!
