the beauty about mr. potato head is that all of the parts are made to fit in all of the places. for months now it has been a tool used in therapy for brooks. we have been working on gross motor skills and identifying body parts and where they go. before now, i never really cared if my kids put the eyes above the nose, under the hat, and precisely where the eyes should go. but i do with brooklyn. like any mother, i work and work because my hope is the more i stimulate her brain, the more pathways it will develop. and so everyday, we get out the potato head and we work and play. and time after time, i show her where they go. it has been a process.
today after playing mr. potato head, she asked me to put the earrings on her. we have done this before. then i headed downstairs to start dinner and talk to my mom on the phone. a few minutes later, i went to check on her. she had all the right parts in all the right places.
